Walking
Start at the Ypres Cloth Hall (Lakenhalle), located in the center of Ypres. Head south on the main street (Grote Markt) toward the Menin Gate. Continue straight for about 600 meters until you reach the Menin Gate, a prominent war memorial. From the Menin Gate, turn left onto the N313 (Rijselseweg) and walk for approximately 1.2 kilometers. You will pass by the Ypres Salient area and various monuments. After 1.2 kilometers, turn right onto the Sint-Elooi Road (Sint-Elooistraat). Continue walking for about 800 meters until you reach the Sint-Eloi Mine Crater, which will be on your left. The crater is marked and has informational plaques.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Ypres. Begin at the Ypres Cloth Hall and cycle south toward the Menin Gate. After reaching the Menin Gate, take a left onto the N313 (Rijselseweg) and cycle for about 1.2 kilometers. Continue straight through the Ypres Salient area until you reach the Sint-Elooi Road (Sint-Elooistraat). Turn right and cycle for about 800 meters until you find the Sint-Eloi Mine Crater on your left. The ride is relatively flat and offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
Public Transport
To reach the Sint-Eloi Mine Crater by public transport, start at Ypres train station. Take bus line 4 toward Zonnebeke. Get off at the 'Sint-Elooi' stop. From there, walk back for about 300 meters along the road until you reach the Sint-Eloi Mine Crater on your right. The bus ride is approximately 10 minutes, and you can check the current schedule at the station or online.
