Car
From Caracol, head south on the Belize-Guatemala border road (also known as the Caracol Road). Continue driving for approximately 30 miles until you reach the junction with the Hummingbird Highway. Turn right onto the Hummingbird Highway heading towards Belmopan. Follow the Hummingbird Highway for about 20 miles until you reach the town of Belmopan. In Belmopan, take the road towards the Western Highway and drive towards the coastal town of San Pedro. This is a longer route and may take around 2 to 3 hours depending on road conditions. Once in San Pedro, follow signs to Hol Chan Marine Reserve, located at 2 Barrier Reef Drive.
Public Transportation
To travel by public transportation, first find a local bus or shuttle service in Caracol heading to Belmopan. The bus will take you to the bus terminal in Belmopan. From there, you need to take a bus to San Pedro. The bus ride may take around 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in San Pedro, you can either walk or take a local taxi to Hol Chan Marine Reserve at 2 Barrier Reef Drive. Expect to pay for the taxi, which may cost around $5 to $10 USD.
Water Taxi
If you prefer an adventure, consider taking a water taxi from Belize City to San Pedro. From Caracol, take a bus to Belize City, which will take about 2 to 3 hours. Once in Belize City, head to the water taxi terminal and purchase a ticket to San Pedro. The water taxi ride takes about 1.5 hours. Upon arrival in San Pedro, you can walk or take a taxi to Hol Chan Marine Reserve at 2 Barrier Reef Drive.
