Getting There

Car
If you are traveling by car, you will want to start from the nearest major city, San Ignacio. From San Ignacio, head west on the George Price Highway (Hummingbird Highway) for about 8 miles until you reach the junction at the San Jose Succotz village. Turn left onto the road leading into San Jose Succotz. Continue driving until you reach the ferry crossing over the Mopan River. There is a small fee for the ferry, typically around BZD 5 (Belize Dollars) per vehicle. After crossing the river, follow the signs for Xunantunich; the ruins are about a 10-minute drive from the ferry. There is parking available on-site.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Belize City to San Ignacio. Buses leave frequently from the Belize City bus terminal and the fare is around BZD 10. Once you arrive in San Ignacio, you can catch a local taxi or a tuk-tuk to take you to the ferry crossing in San Jose Succotz. The taxi fare should be approximately BZD 15-20. After crossing the Mopan River on the ferry (with a fare of about BZD 5), you can either walk to the ruins or take another short taxi ride (approximately BZD 5-10) to the entrance.
