Car
From Coastal Plains, head east on the main road towards Belize City. Follow the signs for the Northern Highway (also known as the Philip Goldson Highway). Continue for about 45 miles (approximately 1 hour) until you reach the junction to Belize City. At the junction, take the left exit towards Belize City and continue until you reach the George Price Highway. Follow this highway for another 30 miles (about 30 minutes) until you reach the town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. From San Pedro, you will need to take a boat to Great Blue Hole, which will take approximately 2 hours. Be sure to book a tour in advance, as they typically include transportation from San Pedro to the site.
Public Transportation (Bus)
From Coastal Plains, you can catch a bus heading to Belize City from the local bus terminal. The bus ride will take around 1.5 hours. Upon arriving in Belize City, you will need to take a taxi or a local bus to the municipal dock. From there, you can catch a water taxi to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. The ferry ride takes about 1.5 hours. Once in San Pedro, you will need to book a boat tour to Great Blue Hole, which usually takes around 2 hours. Make sure to check the schedule and confirm availability for both the water taxi and the tour.
Private Transfer
For more convenience, you can arrange for a private transfer from Coastal Plains to Belize City. This option can be booked in advance through local tour operators. The drive will take roughly 1 hour. Once in Belize City, you will need to take a water taxi to San Pedro, which takes about 1.5 hours. After arriving in San Pedro, book a tour that includes a boat ride to the Great Blue Hole, which will take approximately 2 hours. This option is more costly but offers a more personalized experience.
