Car
If you are driving, head north on the Southern Highway (Hummingbird Highway) from Punta Gorda. Continue for about 50 miles until you reach the intersection with the Belize River. Turn right onto the road towards the village of Orange Walk. Follow the signs to the Lamanai Archaeological Reserve. You will need to park at the designated parking area near the waterbank. Please note that there is a small parking fee of around $5 USD.
Public Transportation
To use public transport, take a bus from Punta Gorda to Orange Walk. Buses run regularly and the fare is approximately $10 USD. Once in Orange Walk, you can hire a local taxi to take you to the riverbank near the Lamanai Archaeological Reserve. The taxi ride may cost around $15-$20 USD. From the riverbank, you will need to take a boat to reach the reserve, which costs about $25 USD per person for a round trip.
Boat
After arriving at the riverbank, you will need to board a boat to reach the Lamanai Archaeological Reserve. The boat ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes. Enjoy the scenic views along the river as you approach the site. The boat operator will generally provide guided tours at an additional cost, which can range from $15 to $30 USD depending on the group size.
