Getting There

Car

If you are driving from the town of Punta Gorda in Toledo District, take the Southern Highway northbound. After approximately 30 km, you will reach the junction with the Western Highway (Hummingbird Highway). Turn left onto the Western Highway. Continue for about 40 km until you reach the village of San Jose Succotz. Look for signs along the way. Upon arriving in San Jose Succotz, you will need to park your car in the village and walk to the river crossing.
Public Transportation

From Punta Gorda, you can take a bus heading towards San Ignacio. These buses leave regularly from the main bus terminal. Once you arrive in San Ignacio, you can catch a local bus or taxi to San Jose Succotz. The taxi ride will take about 15 minutes. Once in San Jose Succotz, you will need to park or get dropped off near the river where the ferry crosses to Xunantunich.
Ferry

After arriving in San Jose Succotz, you will find a small ferry terminal where you can take a hand-cranked ferry across the Mopan River. The ferry operates from 8 AM to 5 PM and costs approximately $1 BZD per person. The crossing takes just a few minutes. Once you have crossed the river, follow the path to the entrance of the Xunantunich Mayan Ruins, which is about a 10-15 minute walk uphill.
