Getting There
Car
From San Ignacio, head west on the George Price Highway (Hwy 1) for about 16 miles (25 km). You will see signs for the Caracol Archaeological Site, which will direct you to the right onto the Mountain Pine Ridge Road. After about 10 miles (16 km), this road will turn into a dirt road. Continue on the dirt road for approximately 20 miles (32 km) until you reach the entrance to Caracol Natural Monument Reservation. Be aware that the road can be rough, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended. There is a small entrance fee of around BZ$10 per person.
Public Transportation
From San Ignacio, you can take a public bus or shuttle to the village of Santa Elena. Once there, find a local taxi or shuttle service that offers transport to Caracol. It's important to confirm beforehand that the service goes all the way to Caracol, as some may only take you part of the way. The taxi fare could be around BZ$50-70 per person one way, depending on the number of passengers. Make sure to arrange for a return trip as public transport back may not be frequent.
