Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
If you are starting from the center of Gbegamey, head east on Avenue Jean-Paul II until you reach the intersection with Avenue de la Cotonou. Turn left onto Avenue de la Cotonou and continue walking straight. After about 10 minutes, you will pass by the large market area. Keep an eye out for local signs directing you towards Esplanade des Amazones. Continue straight for another 5 minutes, and you will reach the Esplanade des Amazones, located at 8CX5+J25, Cotonou.
Bicycle
For those who prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Gbegamey. Start on Avenue Jean-Paul II and then take Avenue de la Cotonou as described earlier. The ride should take approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on your pace. Make sure to follow the same route and watch for pedestrians.
Mototaxi
If you prefer a quicker option, you can take a mototaxi (motorcycle taxi). You can find mototaxis near busy intersections or call one through a local app if available. Tell the driver to take you to Esplanade des Amazones or show them the address (8CX5+J25, Cotonou). The ride should cost around 500 to 1000 CFA depending on your starting point and traffic conditions. Ensure to negotiate the fare before you start the ride.
Public Transport
You can also use public transport. Look for a bus or shared taxi heading towards Haie Vive. Get off at the nearest stop to Avenue de la Cotonou. From there, it’s a short 10-minute walk to Esplanade des Amazones. The public transport fare should be around 200 CFA. Be sure to ask locals for the best bus routes and stops if you're unsure.
