Car
From the center of Bumthang Valley, head south on the main road toward Jakar. Continue driving for approximately 20 minutes until you reach the junction at Chumey. Turn left at the junction and follow the road for another 15 minutes, keeping an eye out for signs directing you to Bubja. The waterfall is located a short distance off the main road, and it's advisable to park your car nearby and proceed on foot. The last stretch involves a short hike, so wear comfortable walking shoes.
Public Transportation
Take a local bus or shared taxi from Jakar to Chumey. This ride will take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Chumey, it's best to ask locals for directions to Bubja Waterfall. Since public transportation may not take you directly to the waterfall, you may need to hire a local taxi or arrange for a guide to take you to the entrance point where the hiking trail begins. Ensure to confirm the cost before agreeing to the ride, which typically ranges from 200 to 500 BTN depending on the distance.
Walking
If you are already in Chumey and prefer a more adventurous route, you can hike to Bubja Waterfall. From the center of Chumey, follow the trail leading towards the waterfall, which is approximately a 45-minute to 1-hour walk. The path is well-trodden, but it’s recommended to have a local guide or at least a map, as some areas can be tricky to navigate. Bring plenty of water and snacks for the hike.
