Getting there

Car

If you are traveling by car in Central Bhutan, start your journey from the capital, Thimphu. Take the route towards Paro, following the signs for the Paro-Thimphu Highway (NH 2). After approximately 23 km, look for the sign leading to the Dochu La Pass. Turn onto the road that leads to Dochu La. Once you reach Dochu La, enjoy the stunning views and continue along the road for about 16 km until you reach the Lungchutse Goemba trailhead. There is limited parking available near the trailhead, so be prepared for a short hike.

Public Transportation

To reach Lungchutse Goemba using public transportation, take a bus from Thimphu to Punakha. The bus will drop you off at the Dochu La Pass. From there, you will need to hire a local taxi or find a shared vehicle that can take you to the Lungchutse Goemba trailhead. Once you arrive at the trailhead, be ready to hike approximately 30-45 minutes up to the monastery. Ensure you confirm the return schedule of the taxi or shared vehicle for your return trip.
