Getting there

Car

If you're traveling by car, head towards Punakha town, which is well-connected by road from various parts of Central Bhutan. Once in Punakha, look for signs leading to Chimi Lhakhang. It's approximately a 30-minute drive from Punakha town center. You'll need to park your vehicle at the designated area near the temple entrance, and then it's a short 10-minute walk along a dirt path through rice fields to reach Chimi Lhakhang.

Public Transportation

For those relying on public transport, take a bus or shared taxi from Thimphu or Wangdue Phodrang to Punakha. Once you arrive in Punakha, you can either walk to Chimi Lhakhang (about 1.5 km from the bus station) or hire a local taxi or tuk-tuk for a small fee (around 200-300 Ngultrum). After reaching the drop-off point, walk the final 10 minutes to the temple along the picturesque path.

Walking

If you're already in the vicinity of Punakha and prefer walking, you can start from the Punakha Dzong and follow the road towards Chimi Lhakhang. The trek is around 1.5 km and offers splendid views of the surrounding landscape, taking approximately 30-40 minutes of leisurely walking. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes as the path can be uneven in some areas.
