Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards Paro District. From the center of Paro town, follow the main road (Pajo Road) towards the east for about 10 kilometers. You will see signs for Chumphu Nye (also known as Chumphu Monastery) as you approach. There is a small gravel road leading to the site. Be cautious as the road can be steep and narrow. There is no entrance fee, but donations are appreciated at the site.
Taxi
For travelers using public transportation, you can hire a taxi from Paro town to Chumphu Nye. The fare will typically range from 500 to 800 Ngultrum (approximately $6 to $10 USD) for a round trip, depending on your negotiation skills. The taxi will take you directly to the base of the hiking trail that leads up to the monastery.
Hiking
From the drop-off point, a hiking trail will take you approximately 30-45 minutes uphill to reach Chumphu Nye. The path is well-trodden but can be steep in parts, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water. The views of the Paro valley from the top are breathtaking. There is no fee for accessing the monastery.
Bus
If you prefer taking a bus, you can catch a bus from Thimphu to Paro (which takes about 1-1.5 hours). Buses run frequently throughout the day, and the fare is around 300 Ngultrum (approximately $4 USD). Once in Paro, you will need to take a taxi or hike to reach Chumphu Nye.
