Car
If you're traveling by car, start from Mongar town. Head east on the main road towards Lhuentse. After approximately 30 km, you will reach the junction near the Dungkar village. Take the left turn towards Dungkar. Continue for about 10 km, following the signs for Dungkar Nagtshang. The landmark will be on your right side, set in a picturesque location surrounded by beautiful landscapes. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition, as some parts of the road may be rough.
Public Transportation (Bus)
For those opting for public transport, take a bus from Mongar town heading towards Lhuentse. Buses frequently depart from the Mongar bus station. The fare is approximately 150 Nu (Bhutanese Ngultrum). Inform the bus conductor that you are heading to Dungkar. The journey will take around 1 hour. After reaching Dungkar, you may need to hire a local taxi or seek ride-sharing with locals to get to Dungkar Nagtshang, which is about 10 km away from the bus stop.
Local Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a local taxi from Mongar town. The cost for a one-way trip to Dungkar Nagtshang is approximately 500 Nu. Ensure to negotiate the fare beforehand. The taxi will take you directly to the site, and you can enjoy the scenic views along the way. Note that taxis in the area may have limited availability, so it’s advisable to book in advance if possible.
