Getting There

Walking
From the center of Mongar, head towards the main road leading out of town. Follow the road in the direction of Bumthang. Continue walking for approximately 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction where a signboard indicates a turnoff towards Punakha Dzong. Take the left turn and proceed along the narrow path leading to the Dzong, which is about 2 kilometers further. You will pass through lush landscapes and a few local villages. Keep an eye out for signs that will guide you to the entrance of Punakha Dzong.

For a more adventurous route, consider hiking from Mongar to Punakha Dzong. Start your hike from the town center, taking the trail that leads northeast. The hike is approximately 10 kilometers and will take you through beautiful forested areas and terraced fields. Follow the trail markers and enjoy the scenic views along the way.
