Getting There

Walking
From the center of Mongar, start at the Mongar Dzong, which is a prominent landmark. Head south on the main road (Druk Wangyel Highway) for about 800 meters until you reach the intersection with the road leading to Motithang. Turn right at this intersection and continue straight for approximately 1.5 kilometers. You will pass some local shops and houses along the way. Keep an eye out for the signs pointing towards the Royal Takin Preserve as you approach. The entrance will be on your left.

Bicycle
If you have rented a bicycle, start from the Mongar Market area. Pedal south on the Druk Wangyel Highway for about 800 meters to reach the intersection with the road to Motithang. Turn right and continue cycling for about 1.5 kilometers. You will notice the beautiful landscape and some small villages along the way. Look for signs indicating the Royal Takin Preserve, which will be on your left side.

Local Bus
If you prefer public transport, look for a local bus heading towards Motithang. Buses frequently depart from the Mongar Bus Terminal. Inform the driver that you are going to the Royal Takin Preserve. The bus ride will take about 15-20 minutes. Get off at the stop nearest to the entrance of the Preserve, which should be clearly marked. From there, it is just a short walk to the main entrance.
