Car
If you are driving from the main town of Phobjikha Valley, head southeast on the main road. Continue straight for about 8 kilometers until you reach the intersection near the Gangtey Monastery. Turn left towards Wangdue Phodrang, and follow the road for another 10 kilometers. Look for signs indicating the direction to Gangkar Pinsum, which will be on your right. The journey should take approximately 30 minutes. Make sure to have a map or GPS device handy as some roadside signage can be minimal.
Public Transportation
To get to Gangkar Pinsum using public transport, you will first need to take a local bus or shared taxi from Phobjikha to Wangdue Phodrang. The buses depart from the central bus terminal in Phobjikha Valley, and the fare is usually around 100-200 Ngultrum. The bus ride takes approximately 45 minutes. Once you arrive in Wangdue Phodrang, you can hire a taxi for the remaining distance to Gangkar Pinsum. The taxi fare for this last leg will typically cost around 300-500 Ngultrum, depending on your bargaining skills and the time of day.
