Phobjikha Valley: A Scenic Observation Haven

Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, navigate to F5FH+QPW, Phobjikha, Nubding using a GPS device or mapping app. The observatory is located in the Phobjikha Valley, which is about 30 kilometers from the town of Wangdue Phodrang. From Wangdue Phodrang, take the road towards Gangtey, follow the signs for Phobjikha Valley, and continue until you reach the designated area. Parking is available near the observatory.

• Public Transportation

  To reach BNC Observatory via public transport, take a bus from Thimphu or Paro to Wangdue Phodrang. Once in Wangdue Phodrang, look for a local bus or shared taxi to Phobjikha Valley. Inform the driver of your destination, 'BNC Observatory in Phobjikha Valley.' The bus ride may take approximately 1-1.5 hours, and the cost is usually around 100-200 BTN. Once you arrive at Phobjikha Valley, the observatory is a short walk from the main road.

• Walking

  If you are already in Phobjikha Valley, you can reach the BNC Observatory by walking. From the main road, head towards the direction of the Gangtey Monastery. Follow the signs directing you towards the observation deck, which should take about 20-30 minutes on foot. The path is well-marked and provides scenic views of the valley.
