Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Punakha, head towards the Punakha Dzong (the fortress). Once you reach the Dzong, walk across the bridge on the south side of the Dzong that leads to the river. Continue along the path that runs alongside the river and take in the beautiful views. After about 1.5 kilometers, you will see a sign for Chimi Lhakhang. Follow the path leading up to the temple, which is set on a hill. The hike will take approximately 30-40 minutes. The temple is located at GVGH+R7R, Teoprongchu.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Punakha. Start your journey by cycling towards the Punakha Dzong. Once you reach the Dzong, cross the bridge on the south side. Continue along the river path for about 1.5 kilometers. Look for the signpost directing you to Chimi Lhakhang. The ride will take approximately 20-30 minutes depending on your pace. Once you arrive at the base of the hill, you will need to walk up to the temple which takes about 10 minutes.
