Getting There

Walking
From Punakha Town, start at the Punakha Dzong. Head east along the road that runs parallel to the river. Continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction at Chuzom. At this junction, take the left fork towards Wangdue Phodrang. Follow this road for approximately 20 kilometers, enjoying the scenic views of the valley. Once you reach the end of the road, you will come to a small village called Nubding. From there, look for signs leading to Gangtey Monastery. The monastery is about a 30-minute walk uphill from Nubding.

Rent a bicycle in Punakha Town and start your journey from the Punakha Dzong. Head east along the river road for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the Chuzom junction. Take the left fork towards Wangdue Phodrang. Continue biking for around 20 kilometers. As you approach Nubding, you will see signs for Gangtey Monastery. Park your bike in Nubding and walk the final 30 minutes uphill to the monastery.
