Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from Sarpang to Changangkha Lhakhang, start by heading north on the main highway (NH 2) towards Thimphu. The journey is approximately 120 kilometers and takes around 3-4 hours, depending on traffic conditions. Once you reach Thimphu, follow signs towards the city center. As you enter Thimphu, look for the junction at the Tashi Chho Dzong and take a right turn onto Changangkha Lhakhang Footpath. After a short drive, you will find the temple on your left. There is no entry fee for this temple, but parking might be limited, so look for available spaces along the footpath.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Changangkha Lhakhang via public transportation, you can take a bus from Sarpang to Thimphu. Buses depart regularly from the Sarpang bus station and the fare is approximately 200 Ngultrum. The bus journey takes around 4-5 hours. Once you arrive at the Thimphu bus terminal, you can either take a taxi (approximately 300 Ngultrum) or walk to Changangkha Lhakhang. Walking will take about 30 minutes, heading north towards the center of Thimphu and following the same directions as mentioned for cars.

• Taxi

  For a more direct and convenient option, hire a taxi from Sarpang to Changangkha Lhakhang. This option is recommended if you are traveling in a group or have luggage. The fare will range from 1,500 to 2,000 Ngultrum, depending on negotiation and the type of vehicle. The ride will take approximately 3-4 hours, and the driver will assist you in reaching the temple directly.
