Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Thimphu (Clock Tower Square), head east towards Norzin Lam. Continue straight on Norzin Lam for about 1 kilometer until you reach the junction with the road leading to the National Library. Turn left onto this road and walk for another 1.5 kilometers. You will pass by the National Library on your left. Continue straight until you reach the intersection where you can see the Tashichho Dzong on your left. From here, Kyichu Lhakhang is about a 15-minute walk further down the road. Look for the sign indicating the temple. The total walking distance is approximately 3 kilometers.

  • Public Transport

    From Clock Tower Square, head to the nearest bus stop and take a local bus heading towards Chubachu. The bus fare is very affordable. Once on the bus, inform the driver you want to go to Kyichu Lhakhang. The bus will take you along the main road and drop you off near the temple. The total travel time is around 30 minutes, including waiting time.

  • Bicycle

    If you're renting a bicycle, start from the Clock Tower Square and head east on Norzin Lam. Just like the walking directions, continue for about 1 kilometer. Turn left at the junction with the road leading to the National Library. After passing the National Library, keep going straight. The total distance will be around 3 kilometers, and biking should take approximately 15-20 minutes depending on your speed.
