Getting There

Walking
From the center of Thimphu, start at the clock tower in the main square. Head east on Norzin Lam street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Chang Lam. Turn left on Chang Lam and walk until you see the Bhutan National Bank on your right. Continue straight until you reach the traffic lights, then turn right onto the road signposted for the Royal Takin Preserve. Follow this road for about 15 minutes. You will see the entrance to the preserve on your left.

Bicycle
Begin your journey at the clock tower in downtown Thimphu. Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops nearby. Cycle east along Norzin Lam street, keeping straight until you reach the intersection with Chang Lam. Turn left onto Chang Lam. Continue cycling until you see the Bhutan National Bank. At the traffic lights, turn right onto the road leading to the Royal Takin Preserve. It is approximately a 20-minute ride from the clock tower, and you will find the preserve entrance on your left.

Public Transport (Bus)
Head to the nearest bus stop from the clock tower in Thimphu. Board a bus heading towards Motithang. Inform the conductor that you want to get off at the Royal Takin Preserve stop. The bus ride will take around 10-15 minutes. Once you get off, walk a short distance back towards the main road, and the entrance to the Royal Takin Preserve will be on your left.
