Start at the Trashigang Dzong, a prominent landmark in the area. From the Dzong, head south on the main road towards the town center. Continue walking straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the intersection with the road heading east towards Samdrup Jongkhar. Turn left and follow this road, which is well-marked. Stay on this road for approximately 20 kilometers. You will pass through scenic landscapes and small villages. After about 20 minutes of walking, you will reach the bus stop near the Samdrup Jongkhar border. From here, you can take a local bus or request a shared taxi to the Indo-Bhutan border.
Bus
If you prefer not to walk, begin your journey at the Trashigang bus terminal located near the town center. Look for a bus heading to Samdrup Jongkhar, which is the nearest town to the Indo-Bhutan border. Buses typically leave every hour. The bus ride will take around 1 to 1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Samdrup Jongkhar, you can either walk or take a local taxi to the border. The border is approximately 5 kilometers from the bus station, and the taxi ride will take about 10 minutes.
Shared Taxi
From Trashigang, go to the main road where shared taxis frequently stop. Look for a shared taxi that is heading to Samdrup Jongkhar. The cost is usually reasonable, and the journey takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive in Samdrup Jongkhar, you can walk or take a local taxi to the Indo-Bhutan border, which is about 5 kilometers away.
