Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Trongsa, start at the Trongsa Dzong, which is a prominent landmark. Head east towards the main road (Drukgyel Lam). Continue walking straight for about 800 meters until you reach the junction. At the junction, turn left onto the road leading towards Jakar. Follow this road for approximately 3 kilometers. You will pass by local shops and small eateries along the way. Once you reach Jakar, look for signs directing you to the Jakhar Dzongkhag Office, which will be on your right.

  • Bicycle

    If you wish to cycle, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Trongsa. Start at the Trongsa Dzong and head east towards the main road (Drukgyel Lam). Cycle straight for about 800 meters to the junction. At the junction, take a left turn towards Jakar. The road is moderately hilly, so be prepared for some uphill cycling. Continue on this road for about 3 kilometers, and keep an eye out for the Jakhar Dzongkhag Office, which will be on your right as you enter Jakar.

  • Local Transport (Taxi or Shared Vehicle)

    To reach the Jakhar Dzongkhag Office, find a local taxi or shared vehicle from the main taxi stand in Trongsa. Inform the driver that you want to go to Jakar. The trip takes about 30 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver will take you directly to Jakar, where you can ask to be dropped off at the Jakhar Dzongkhag Office. This is a convenient option if you prefer not to walk or cycle.
