Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town in Western Bhutan, such as Phuentsholing or Thimphu. From Thimphu, take the road towards Wangdue Phodrang and then follow the signs towards Punakha. After reaching Punakha, continue towards the district of Wangdue Phodrang. Be sure to ask locals for the best route to Teen Dhuria. The last stretch involves navigating through rural roads, where a 4x4 vehicle is recommended due to the terrain. Expect to pay around 500-1000 Nu for fuel depending on your starting point and vehicle efficiency.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Teen Dhuria using public transportation, first take a bus from Thimphu to Wangdue Phodrang. This journey typically costs around 200 Nu and will take about 3 hours. Upon arrival in Wangdue Phodrang, you can hire a local taxi or look for shared jeep services that head towards Punakha. Confirm with the driver that they can drop you off near Teen Dhuria. The taxi fare might range from 1000-1500 Nu. Be prepared for a short trek from the drop-off point to reach the actual site, as it may not be directly accessible by vehicle.

• Trekking

  If you are already in the vicinity of Teen Dhuria and prefer trekking, you can start your hike from the nearest village. Ensure you have a local guide if you're unfamiliar with the area. The trek can take approximately 2-3 hours, depending on your pace. It's advisable to wear good hiking shoes and carry sufficient water. There are no additional costs for trekking unless you hire a guide, which may cost around 1000 Nu for the day.
