Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, Punakha. From Punakha, take the road heading east towards Wangdue Phodrang. After approximately 15 minutes, you'll reach a bridge over the Mo Chhu River. The river is visible from the bridge, and you can park your car nearby to enjoy the views. The parking area is free.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Mo Chhu by public transportation, take a local bus from Thimphu to Punakha. The bus ride typically takes around 3 hours and costs about 150-200 Ngultrum. Once you arrive in Punakha, you can either walk to the river, which is approximately a 30-minute walk from the bus station, or take a taxi, which would cost around 300 Ngultrum.

• Walking

  If you are already in the vicinity of the Mo Chhu, you can explore the area on foot. From the bridge, follow the riverbank for stunning views and natural scenery. There are pathways along the river where you can walk peacefully and take photographs. This is a free activity, but make sure to wear comfortable shoes.

• Bicycle Rental

  For those who enjoy cycling, consider renting a bicycle in Punakha. Several local shops offer rentals for around 500 Ngultrum per day. You can cycle along the roads leading to Mo Chhu, which allows for a leisurely journey with scenic stops along the way. Ensure you have a suitable map or a GPS device to navigate the area.
