Car
If you're starting from the nearest major city, such as Santa Cruz, you can rent a car. Head southwest on the Ruta 9 (also known as the 'Interoceanic Highway') towards Sucre. Continue for approximately 600 km until you reach the junction of Ruta 6 in Sucre. Turn onto Ruta 6 and follow the signs toward Potosí, then continue southwest towards the town of Puripica. The Salvador Dalí Desert is located just outside of Puripica. Ensure you have a good map or GPS system, as some roads may not be well-marked.

Public Transportation
From Santa Cruz, take a long-distance bus to Sucre. This journey takes about 12 hours and costs around 100-150 BOB (Bolivian Bolivianos). Once in Sucre, transfer to a bus heading to Potosí. After about 4 hours, you will arrive in Potosí. From there, catch a local taxi or a shared taxi (trufi) to Puripica, which is approximately 2 hours away. Make sure to negotiate the fare before getting in a taxi, which should be around 50-70 BOB.
