From El Alto, drive towards the main road leading to the Chacaltaya mountain. As you ascend, follow the signs indicating the direction to Chacaltaya. The road is winding and steep, so drive cautiously. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Note that some sections may be rough, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. Parking is available at the base of the ski area.

From Huayna Potosí, you can hire a shared taxi (also known as 'trufi') that will take you directly to the Chacaltaya ski area. The shared taxi fare is usually around 20-30 BOB per person. Ensure you confirm the return trip with the driver, as taxis may not always wait for you.
