Car
If you are driving from Puno, Peru, head southeast on Route 3S for about 30 km until you reach the border crossing at Kasani. After crossing into Bolivia, continue on Route 2 for approximately 45 km to the town of Copacabana. From Copacabana, take the road towards the town of Tiquina, passing through beautiful landscapes. Once you reach Tiquina, you may need to take a ferry across the Strait of Tiquina (approximately 10 BOB for the ferry). After crossing, continue driving on Route 2 for about 20 km. Follow the signs towards Corani Lake, which will be on your left side. The total drive from Puno to Corani Lake is approximately 2.5 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach Corani Lake via public transport, start from the main bus terminal in Puno, Peru. Take a bus to Copacabana, which costs around 15 BOB and takes about 1.5 hours. Once in Copacabana, you need to find a local minibus or shared taxi heading to Tiquina. This part of the journey may cost around 5 BOB and takes about 30 minutes. After reaching Tiquina, you will need to take a ferry (approximately 10 BOB) across the Strait of Tiquina. After the ferry ride, look for another minibus or taxi that can take you to Corani Lake. This final leg of the journey is around 20 km and should cost about 10 BOB. The total travel time, including waiting times, may take around 3-4 hours.
Private Taxi
For a more convenient option, you can hire a private taxi from either Puno or Copacabana. From Puno, the taxi fare to Corani Lake will be around 250 BOB. The journey takes approximately 2.5 hours. If you're starting from Copacabana, a private taxi will cost around 100 BOB and take about 1 hour. This is the most direct and comfortable way to reach Corani Lake, especially if you're traveling with a group or have a lot of luggage.
