Walking
From the center of Uyuni, head southwest on Avenida Ferroviaria towards Calle Sucre. Continue walking for about 10 minutes until you reach the main bus terminal (Terminal de Buses). Here, look for buses or shared taxis heading to the Salar de Uyuni. Purchase a ticket to the salt flats, which is typically a short ride of about 30 minutes.
Bus
Once you arrive at the bus terminal, find a bus that indicates it goes to Salar de Uyuni. These buses usually leave frequently, and the fare is quite affordable. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Keep an eye out for the sign that mentions 'Salar de Uyuni' to ensure you're on the right bus.
Shared Taxi
Alternatively, you can opt for a shared taxi from the bus terminal. Look for 'colectivos' or shared taxis that are heading towards Salar de Uyuni. They can be a bit faster and more direct compared to the bus, but may cost slightly more. Typically, you'll share the taxi with other passengers, and the ride will take around 30 minutes.
Guided Tour
If you prefer a more organized experience, consider joining a guided tour. Many tour agencies in Uyuni offer day trips to the salt flats, which include transportation, a guide, and sometimes meals. You can book a tour directly at your hotel or at one of the many tour offices in the center of Uyuni. Departure times may vary, but most tours start in the morning.
