Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey from La Paz. Head east on Avenida 6 de Agosto and continue onto the Yungas Road (also known as Carretera a los Yungas). As you drive along Yungas Road, enjoy the stunning landscapes. After approximately 1.5 hours of driving, look for the exit sign towards Laguna Uni which will be marked as FX2Q+J3R. Turn onto the dirt road leading to the lagoon. Parking is available nearby, but make sure to check the road conditions as they can change due to weather.
Public Transportation
To reach Laguna Uni using public transportation, take a minibus from La Paz to Coroico, which can be found at the Villa Fatima bus terminal. The ride takes about 2 hours. Once you reach Coroico, you may need to hire a local taxi or take another minibus that goes towards Laguna Uni. Inform the driver of your destination (FX2Q+J3R) to ensure you're on the right route. The taxi fare can vary, so it’s advisable to negotiate the price before starting your journey.
Hiking
If you're adventurous and wish to hike to Laguna Uni, you can start from Coroico. After reaching Coroico, ask for directions to the trailhead. The hike takes about 1-2 hours depending on your fitness level. Be sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes and carry water and snacks. This route offers beautiful views of the Yungas region, but make sure to inform someone about your hike for safety.
