Getting There

• Car

  To reach Cerro Rojo by car, start your journey on Yungas Road (also known as the North Yungas Road). If you're coming from La Paz, take the road that leads towards Coroico and follow the signs for Yungas Road. Continue along this scenic route, enjoying the breathtaking views. As you drive, you will pass through several small towns. Keep an eye out for a sign indicating Cerro Rojo, which is located at approximately -16.209471 latitude and -67.7550479 longitude. The landmark is situated on the northern side of Yungas Road. Look for a parking area near the site where you can safely leave your vehicle. Note that road conditions can vary, so ensure your vehicle is suitable for mountainous terrain.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, you can take a minibus or a colectivo (shared taxi) from La Paz to Coroico. The buses leave from the main bus terminal in La Paz. The journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, and you should expect to pay around 30-50 Bolivianos. Once you reach Coroico, you can hire a local taxi to take you to Cerro Rojo. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand, which should be around 50-100 Bolivianos depending on the distance and your bargaining skills. The taxi driver will know the location of Cerro Rojo and can drop you off right at the site.
