Car
If you are driving, start from La Paz. Take the 'Carretera a los Yungas' (Yungas Road) and continue towards the town of Coroico. After about 60 kilometers, look for the sign for 'El Choro Trek' near the town of La Cumbre. Turn onto the dirt road leading to the trailhead. Be cautious, as the road can be narrow and winding. The total drive should take about 2-3 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions.
Public Transport - Bus
From La Paz, head to the 'Terminal de Buses' (Bus Station). Look for buses heading to Coroico. The bus journey will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you reach Coroico, you can take a taxi or a shared minivan to the La Cumbre trailhead for about 30-50 BOB (Bolivianos). It's advisable to confirm the fare before starting the journey. The taxi ride will take around 30-40 minutes.
Hiking to the Trek
Once you arrive at La Cumbre, you will see signs for the El Choro Trek trailhead. The trek begins here, and you should bring enough water, snacks, and appropriate hiking gear. The first part of the trek is downhill, and you will be surrounded by beautiful scenery.
