Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the town of La Paz. Head northeast on the Carretera a los Yungas (Yungas Road), which is a scenic route that takes you through the mountains. Continue for about 1.5 hours until you reach the town of Unduavi. From Unduavi, take the road leading to the Takesi Trail, which is approximately 30 minutes away. Keep an eye out for the signposts directing you to 'Cam. Precolombino Takesi'. There is parking available near the trailhead.
Public Transportation
To reach Takesi Trail via public transportation, take a minibus or taxi from La Paz to Unduavi. Minibuses leave from the cemetery area in La Paz, and the journey typically takes about 1.5 hours. Once in Unduavi, you can either walk or take a local taxi to the Takesi Trailhead. The taxi ride should take around 30 minutes. Make sure to agree on a fare beforehand, as taxis may not have meters. The cost for the minibus is usually around 10-15 BOB (Bolivianos), and the taxi from Unduavi to the trailhead may cost around 30-50 BOB.
Hiking
If you are already in the vicinity and prefer a more adventurous route, you can hike to the Takesi Trail from Unduavi. Follow the path leading up the hills, which will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours depending on your pace. This route provides beautiful views of the surrounding landscape, but be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks for the hike.
