Čardaklije, located in the village of Vrtoče near Bosanski Petrovac, is more than just a restaurant; it's a living museum that transports visitors back to the 19th century. This ethno-village, created by the Radošević brothers, showcases the traditional way of life in the region, offering a unique blend of history, culture, and gastronomy. The village features ten buildings, including a souvenir shop, an ethno-museum, a blacksmith shop, and workshops demonstrating traditional crafts like weaving. Guest houses, taverns, and barns have been reconstructed to realistically represent rural life. Visitors can enjoy organic food and drinks, with some ingredients harvested locally. Čardaklije also offers activities that connect visitors with nature and tradition. Horseback riding and carriage rides allow exploration of the surrounding woodland paths, while interactions with farm animals provide a hands-on experience. The village promotes the preservation of local heritage by showcasing traditional craftsmanship such as loom weaving, forging and spinning wool. The Radošević family history is deeply intertwined with the land. Legend says their ancestors were led to the area by a blind man on a blind horse, who commanded them to settle there. In 1858, one of their descendants built a tall, unusual house called "Čardak" (Tower), and his family became known as "Čardaklije" (People of the Tower). Today, Čardaklije continues to welcome guests, offering a chance to experience the traditions and hospitality of old Bosnia.
