Opening times, essentials, and a few local tips gathered into one calmer, easier-to-scan planning section.
Air Transfer
The most common way to reach Hyena Pan is via a flight to the local airstrip in Khwai Private Reserve. From Maun Airport (MUB), a light aircraft transfer takes approximately 35 minutes. The camp then arranges an hour-long road transfer from the airstrip to Hyena Pan. This transfer is typically included in the cost of your stay.
Self-Drive
Self-driving to Hyena Pan is possible, but a 4x4 vehicle is highly recommended due to the challenging road conditions. From Maun, the drive takes approximately 3-4 hours. Follow the A35 towards Moremi Game Reserve, then connect to the Khwai area. Once in the Khwai Private Reserve, follow signs to Hyena Pan. Park entry fees and potentially transit fees may apply depending on the route. Ensure you have sufficient fuel and supplies, as facilities are limited.
