Walking
For adventurous travelers, a challenging 4-hour hike to Christ the Redeemer begins at Parque Lage in the Jardim Botânico neighborhood. Be aware that this hike is steep and strenuous, requiring a good level of fitness. It is also reported that the trail passes through a favela and is not considered a safe option. Alternatively, from the Paineiras parking lot, you can walk up the road to the entrance. This option is cheaper, but the road can be busy with traffic.
