Barra do Sucuri: Snorkeling in Crystal-Clear Waters

Barra do Sucuri, situated approximately 17 kilometers from Bonito, is renowned for its exceptionally clear waters, considered among the most crystalline on the planet. The adventure begins with a tranquil 150-meter trail walk to the main deck, followed by a 1,300-meter boat trip up the Sucuri River, where the guide points out the local flora and fauna. The return journey involves floating down the gentle current, allowing you to observe a wide array of fish and plants. The river's transparency provides an immersive experience, showcasing the vibrant underwater ecosystem. Keep an eye out for the Piraputanga with its red fins, the Dorado that feeds on it, the Curimba, and the Piau fish. The entire tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours. Barra do Sucuri is named for its location at the meeting point of the Formoso and Sucuri rivers. The Rio Sucuri itself is sometimes called the Anaconda River due to its shape.
