Cachoeira da Praia Triste, or Waterfall of the Sad Beach, is a hidden gem nestled within the Parque Natural Costeira de Zimbros in Bombinhas, Santa Catarina. This small waterfall offers a tranquil retreat, rewarding hikers with the soothing sounds of cascading water and the opportunity to immerse themselves in refreshing natural pools. The trail to the waterfall, accessed from the right side of Praia de Zimbros, is considered moderately difficult, typically taking around 4 hours for a round trip. The path winds through the Costeira de Zimbros, passing by ten beaches, including Praia do Cardoso, Praia da Lagoa and Praia Vermelha. The majority of the trail is relatively flat, with some inclines. Approximately 20 minutes from Praia Triste, a small entrance leads to the waterfall trail. Be attentive to the trail markers. The waterfall itself features three small cascades, the largest being around 2 meters high, surrounded by native forest. Before reaching the waterfall, hikers will pass an abandoned house that once belonged to the family of Mr. Herminio, an early resident of Bombinhas. Due to a leg disability, Mr. Herminio became the first teacher in the Costeira de Zimbros, educating many local families.

    Walking

    From Zimbros beach, walk to the right side of the beach to find the start of the Costeira de Zimbros trail. Follow the trail for approximately 2 hours, passing several beaches. Look for a small opening to the right that indicates the start of the final path to Cachoeira da Praia Triste. The hike to the waterfall from this point is about 20 minutes.
