The only access to Matadeiro Beach is by foot from Armação Beach. From Armação, follow the trail north, crossing the Sangradouro River. The river's water level varies with the tides and the level of Lagoa do Peri. After crossing the river, a short uphill trail leads to Matadeiro Beach. The walk from Armação Beach is approximately 10-15 minutes.

From the center of Florianópolis, go to Terminal Rodoviário Rita Maria and take a bus to Praia da Armação. Buses to Armação depart from Terminal de Integração do Rio Tavares (TiRio). From TiRio, take a bus to Armação. Once in Armação, follow the walking directions to Matadeiro Beach. A single bus fare costs around R$4.25.

Take a taxi or ride-sharing service from Florianópolis to Armação Beach. From the city center, the drive to Armação Beach takes approximately 30 minutes.
