Trilha do Morro das Aranhas: A Coastal Hiking Adventure

Trilha do Morro das Aranhas, or Spider Hill Trail, is a captivating hiking experience located in Florianópolis, Brazil, that bridges the beautiful beaches of Santinho and Moçambique. The trail is known for its combination of natural beauty and historical significance. The adventure begins at the right end of Santinho Beach, near the renowned Costão do Santinho resort. As you start your journey, you'll walk along a picturesque deck where you can admire fascinating rock inscriptions. These inscriptions offer a glimpse into the region's pre-historic past. The trail then winds through diverse landscapes, including rocky cliffs and green meadows. The well-marked path offers viewpoints with panoramic views of famous beaches such as Ingleses and Moçambique. As you ascend, the trail can be a bit steep, with some natural steps that require a bit of effort. The total distance is relatively short, around 2.5 kilometers, but the climb can be challenging. Upon reaching the summit, you're rewarded with breathtaking views of the coastline, including the Ilha das Aranhas (Spider Island), Santinho Beach, and Moçambique Beach. The trail also passes through a protected natural reserve. The Morro das Aranhas was previously known as Morro das Flechas (Arrow Hill) because of the many remnants of indigenous groups found in the area.
