Discover more about Ponte dos Ingleses

Ponte dos Ingleses, also known as the Metal Bridge, is a pier and tourist attraction on Iracema Beach in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. Constructed between 1902 and 1921 by the British company Norton Griffts & Co, its design was inspired by Brighton Pier. Originally intended to serve as a port for the city, it was never actually used for this purpose. Instead, the pier became a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, offering panoramic views of the ocean and the Fortaleza skyline. The best time to visit is during sunset, when the sky is painted with vibrant colors. The pier is also a great place to spot dolphins. Today, the Ponte dos Ingleses is a cultural hub, with street performers, local artists, bars, cafes and restaurants adding to the lively atmosphere. After undergoing renovations, including the addition of a wooden walkway, the pier reopened in August 2024 and now features a Dolphin Protection Center and a Cetacean Observation Tower.
