Getting There

  • Walking

    From the entrance of Vidigal, the Mirante do Arvrão can be reached by kombi or mototaxi. Alternatively, the walk up the main road takes around 20-30 minutes, offering a glimpse into daily life in the favela. Be prepared for a steep incline. Once you reach the top of the community, follow signs for the Mirante do Arvrão. Kombi and mototaxi fares typically cost R$5-10.

  • Taxi/Ride-Share

    Take a taxi or ride-share to the entrance of Vidigal. From there, due to the narrow streets and steep inclines, you will need to either walk, take a 'kombi' (local van), or a mototaxi to the Mirante do Arvrão. A taxi from Copacabana to the entrance of Vidigal will cost approximately R$30-40. The kombi/mototaxi from the entrance to the Mirante is an additional R$5-10.

Today, it's a thriving community known for its artistic vibe, strong community spirit, and stunning views. The favela has become increasingly popular with tourists, drawn to its unique charm and the opportunity to experience a different side of Rio.
