Getting there

Public Transport

From Copacabana or Ipanema, take a bus to São Conrado. From São Conrado, local buses or kombis (vans) frequently ascend to Vidigal's entrance. Bus fares are typically R$5. Kombi fares within Vidigal are around R$3-5.

Taxi/Ride-Share

Taxis and ride-sharing services (Uber, 99) are readily available from most parts of Rio de Janeiro. A ride from Ipanema to Vidigal will cost approximately R$30-40. Be aware that during peak hours or events, prices may surge. The ride will take you to the entrance of Vidigal, from where you can walk or take local transport further up.

Walking

If you are already in São Conrado, you can walk to the base of Vidigal. However, walking up the steep roads within Vidigal can be challenging. Consider taking a moto-taxi (motorcycle taxi) for around R$5-10 to reach higher points within the favela.
