The Museu Histórico da Cidade, popularly known as the Museu da Cidade, is located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The museum was created in 1934 to preserve and showcase objects representing the city's history. It is located within the Parque da Cidade, a municipal natural park in the Gávea neighborhood spanning 470,000 square meters. The museum's architectural complex includes two 19th-century buildings dedicated to long and short-term exhibitions, the São João Batista Chapel from the 20th century, a technical reserve, and an administrative building. The collection comprises approximately 25,000 pieces, including a photographic collection with 6,500 images, watercolors, engravings, and lithographs. Highlights include works by Marc Ferrez, Augusto Malta, Thomas Ender, Adalberto da Prússia, Maria Graham, Eugène Cicéri, Friedrich Hagedorn, Debret, and Rugendas.
