Walking
If you're already in Ipanema, the easiest way to reach Pedra do Arpoador is by walking. Head towards the end of Ipanema Beach closest to the Dois Irmãos mountains. Walk along the beach promenade until you reach Av. Francisco Bhering. Continue straight, and you'll see Pedra do Arpoador at the end of the beach. The walk takes about 15-20 minutes.
Public Transport
If you are coming from further inland, take a bus towards the beach. Look for buses marked 'Ipanema' or 'Arpoador'. Ask the driver to let you off at 'Posto 8', a well-known landmark in Ipanema. From there, walk towards the beach and follow the promenade to Pedra do Arpoador. Bus fares range from R$4 to R$5. Alternatively, take the Metro to General Osorio station and walk along Ipanema beach to Arpoador. A single metro ticket costs R$6.90.
Taxi/Ride-Share
Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber are readily available in Rio de Janeiro. A taxi from Ipanema to Centro costs R$55-R$70 and takes 14 minutes. A ride from Galeão Airport to Ipanema costs around R$81. Uber fares from the airport to the South Zone typically range from R$40-R$50. Keep in mind that prices can vary depending on the time of day and demand.
