Cascata da Usina Velha, located in Linha Carlos Gomes near Vila Azul, is a captivating waterfall formed by the old dam on the Retiro River. The site holds historical significance as the location of the first power plant that generated electricity for the state. Inaugurated in 1912, the plant initially powered the town with 108 lamps. The waterfall itself has two drops, one of 7 meters and another of 6 meters, creating a stunning visual. A natural pool at the base of the falls is perfect for swimming. The trail to reach the waterfall is short, about 200 meters, taking only about 5 minutes to walk. The path winds through native forest and slightly uneven terrain. While the location is free to visit, it is important to note that there are no facilities such as restrooms or food services available. Visitors are fully self-sufficient. The waterfall is approximately 6 km (about 11 minutes by car) from the center of Veranópolis, with a fully paved road leading close to the site.
