    Cascata do Caracol, or Caracol Falls, is a majestic 131-meter (426-foot) waterfall located approximately 7 kilometers (4.35 miles) from Canela, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The waterfall is formed by the Caracol River, as it dramatically plunges over basalt cliffs of the Serra Geral mountain range into the Vale da Lageana. The surrounding landscape transitions between the Brazilian Highlands' pinheiral zone and the southern coastal Atlantic Forest, creating a rich and diverse ecosystem. Since its official establishment in 1973, Parque do Caracol has drawn visitors with its natural beauty, including native forests, clean water, and panoramic views. The park itself spans 25 hectares (62 acres) and offers several ways to experience the falls.
