Gramado Zoo Travel Guide

Located near the entrance to Gramado on the RS-115 highway, Gramado Zoo offers a different kind of zoo experience, focusing exclusively on Brazilian fauna. Opened in 2008, the zoo houses approximately 1,500 animals representing a diverse range of Brazilian ecosystems. Instead of cages, the zoo features large nurseries and armored glass enclosures that closely replicate the animals' natural habitats. The 1,800-meter walking path guides visitors through immersive environments, providing information about the animals and the zoo's conservation efforts. Gramado Zoo is committed to animal welfare, research, environmental education, and conservation. The zoo rescues animals that are victims of trafficking, mistreatment, and accidents, providing a home for those that cannot return to the wild. Visitors can observe animals such as jaguars, capybaras, wolves, monkeys, and various bird species. The zoo also features a botanical garden with over 3,000 plant species. Gramado Zoo is recognized for its conservation efforts and is classified as Category A by the Brazilian Institute for the Environment.
