Dedo de Deus (Finger of God) is a majestic rock formation within the Serra dos Órgãos National Park, located in Magé, Rio de Janeiro. Rising to 5,417 feet, its unique shape resembles a finger pointing towards the heavens, making it an iconic landmark and a favorite among climbers and hikers.The peak holds historical significance as its summit was once deemed unreachable by European mountaineers. However, in 1912, a team of Brazilian climbers successfully scaled the mountain, establishing a route that paved the way for future adventurers. The original route, called Teixeira, is still used for rappelling during the descent.The challenging climb to the top involves a steep hike through a forest trail, followed by a *via ferrata* section with steel cables, and some scrambling. The east face route, almost 200 meters long, presents various climbing techniques, including chimneys and dihedrals. The summit offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Serra dos Órgãos National Park. The best time to visit is during the South American winter, from May to September.
